Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain the central data ecosystem within the customer domain.

• Create robust and scalable 360-degree views of end customers across more than 60 brands.

• Design and deliver high-quality, scalable data products in the customer domain, serving as a unified source of truth.

• Construct and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for both structured and unstructured data.

• Design secure and cost-effective data architectures.

• Establish and uphold best practices in data modeling, orchestration, and observability.

• Implement data governance frameworks, lineage tracking, metadata management, and quality controls.

• Collaborate with Analytics, ML, and AI teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.

• Optimize pipeline performance through indexing, query optimization, and schema evolution.

• Mentor junior engineering team members and promote technical excellence.

• Lead projects from the ideation phase to actionable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) or significant hands-on experience with open table formats.

• Advanced SQL skills, including expertise in optimization and indexing.

• Proficiency in dimensional, star schema, and snowflake data modeling techniques.

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, etc.).

• Experience using modern orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt.

• Strong expertise in Docker and Kubernetes.

• Dedication to CI/CD best practices using GitLab or GitHub.

• Experience with data versioning, schema evolution, and distributed metadata management.

• Over 7 years of professional experience in data engineering or data management.

• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, STEM, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Proven track record of deploying stable, high-performance data solutions that yield measurable business value.

• Proof of eligibility to work in the applicable country.

• Must already possess work eligibility; relocation packages and visa sponsorship are not available.
