Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.

📋 Description

• Design and manage the medallion framework: Bronze for raw data landing, Silver for cleaned and standardized data, and Gold for business-ready marts.

• Create the fundamental dimensional model encompassing facts and dimensions, including traffic, clicks, registrations, deposits, commissions, and costs, with well-defined grain and conformed keys.

• Develop verified and documented transformation models with established business definitions.

• Write and maintain Airflow Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs).

• Utilize ClickHouse for handling high-volume event data.

• Implement data quality checks and alerts.

• Assist in the integration of new data sources.

• Engage in architecture discussions and code reviews.

• Take ownership of the data model that transforms raw data into reliable, business-ready metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Data Engineer or Data Warehouse developer.

• Experience in the iGaming or affiliate marketing sectors.

• Proficient in SQL, including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization on large datasets.

• Strong proficiency in production-level Python for pipeline development, API integrations, and automation tasks.

• Practical experience with dbt, Airflow, and BigQuery, or Snowflake or Redshift.

• Familiarity with ClickHouse is an advantage.

• Solid data modeling expertise: star schemas, fact grain, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions, and surrogate keys.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and building a layered medallion architecture in a production environment.

• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.

• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Copilot, with a review of their outputs.

• Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in English is essential.

• Experience with Spark/PySpark, Databricks, Delta Lake, AWS (S3, AppFlow, Step Functions), ClickHouse, or Terraform is a plus.
