
Senior Data Center Technician – Copper

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain copper cabling.
• Set up servers, switches, storage devices, patch panels, cable managers, support hardware, and associated infrastructure.
• Conduct rack-and-stack operations in standard, high-density, and AI-compute cabinets.
• Install, route, dress, label, and connect both copper and fiber-optic cabling.
• Install management cables, console cables, power cords, interconnects, optics, and supplementary components.
• Confirm cable source, destination, port assignments, labeling, connector types, routing, slack, and bend radius.
• Work from cable schedules, rack elevations, port maps, drawings, and runbooks.
• Execute cabling remediation, cleanup, defect corrections, and rework as needed.
• Complete security awareness training and adhere to company policies.
• Identify and escalate security risks, contributing to remediation efforts.
• Assist remote engineers and support teams with smart-hands tasks.
• Replace damaged cables, labels, optics, transceivers, hardware, and field-replaceable components.
• Document serial numbers, asset tags, MAC addresses, photographs, and installation records.
• Update project trackers, completion checklists, issue logs, redline notes, and timekeeping systems.
• Inspect work for visible defects prior to quality review.
• Report blockers, damaged equipment, missing materials, drawing conflicts, site issues, and safety concerns.
• Keep cabinets, pathways, workstations, staging areas, and project zones clean and organized.
• Safeguard customer infrastructure from damage.
• Maintain professional communication with leads, superintendents, customers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in data center operations, telecommunications, low-voltage installation, structured cabling, network deployment, or a related field.
• Proven experience in installing copper and fiber-optic cabling.
• Familiarity with mounting and installing equipment in data cabinets.
• Capability to follow detailed technical instructions, cable schedules, drawings, and runbooks.
• Ability to read cable labels, rack elevations, port maps, and basic schematics.
• Proficient in documenting completed work accurately and working independently as part of a traveling field team.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Ability to meet travel, background, drug, safety, and site-access screening requirements.
• Willingness to travel approximately 75% to 90% nationwide, including frequent overnight and extended assignments.
• Flexibility to work during days, nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, deployment windows, and shifts lasting 10 to 12 hours.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier team lifts.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and work inside cabinets.
• Proficient in performing repetitive tasks related to cable installation, dressing, labeling, and equipment setup.
• Comfort working in active construction and operational data center environments while wearing required PPE.
