Senior Data Architect, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Spearhead large-scale data platform deployments and cloud modernization initiatives.

• Serve as a trusted advisor, aligning business needs with secure and scalable data solutions.

• Architect and implement enterprise Databricks Lakehouse environments utilizing Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables (DLT), and Spark compute clusters.

• Facilitate efficient processing for both batch and real-time data.

• Propel modernization of cloud data infrastructure.

• Oversee intricate data migrations from legacy systems to cloud-native Databricks environments.

• Advocate for Terraform-first infrastructure-as-code deployments.

• Design secure data network boundaries, including Private Link and layered firewalls.

• Lead technical pre-sales activities, encompassing architecture design, Proof of Concept demonstrations, and the preparation of technical proposals, SOWs, and RFPs.

• Ensure secure, high-performance data architectures align with client business objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data/cloud engineering.

• More than 5 years focused on enterprise Databricks architecture.

• Profound hands-on experience with the Databricks ecosystem.

• Familiarity with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).

• Proficient in CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).

• Knowledge of identity federation (OIDC/SAML).

• Advanced expertise in at least one major cloud provider: GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Databricks Certified (Data Engineer Professional/Lakehouse Architect) certification is mandatory.

• Professional-level Cloud Architect certification is required.

• Outstanding communication abilities.

• Skill in translating technical concepts for business leaders and facilitating decision-making in fast-paced environments.
