Senior Cybersecurity Engineer – Center of Excellence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee cybersecurity workstreams on Tier 1 projects from inception to completion, including requirements assessment, security architecture, detailed design, construction, configuration, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover.

• Generate project security deliverables, such as security plans, zone and conduit models, risk assessments, hardening records, test procedures, reports, and security handover packages.

• Align customer requirements with contract scope, identify discrepancies, and provide technical justifications for change orders.

• Manage assigned COE competencies and keep reference configurations updated with product and partner releases.

• Create reference architectures, configuration baselines, build checklists, PowerShell scripts, how-to guides, test procedures, and templates.

• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and modules for repetitive execution tasks.

• Establish automated checks that compare constructed systems against reference baselines, generating evidence for milestone reviews, FAT, and SAT.

• Utilize cutting-edge AI models to enhance execution efforts.

• Design and implement structured technical training for regional engineers.

• Monitor IEC 62443, NERC CIP, NIS2, CRA, IEC 62351, and regional mandates, converting requirements into execution checklists and deliverables.

• Act as the recognized technical authority and provide specialist support for regional teams on complex projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial automation or the energy sector.

• At least 5 years of practical OT cybersecurity delivery on customer projects.

• Practical knowledge of IEC 62443, particularly parts 3-2, 3-3, and 2-4.

• Familiarity with NERC CIP, NIS2, CRA, IEC 62351, and NIST.

• Strong understanding of substation and grid automation systems and protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, and Modbus.

• Expert, hands-on proficiency in at least three specified cybersecurity areas and working knowledge of most others, including firewalls, OT network monitoring, secure remote access, Active Directory, PKI, SIEM, centralized security management platforms, application control, backup and recovery, Windows and Linux server build, and field-device hardening.

• Proficient in PowerShell for Windows Server and Active Directory administration.

• Proven capability to produce security documentation accepted by customers and auditors.

• Experience in training engineers.

• Willingness to travel 20–40%, including extended site visits.

• Ability to work across time zones.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening process, if applicable.

• Candidates may be subject to enhanced security checks as required by clients.

• Certifications such as GICSP, GRID, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert, CISSP, Fortinet FCP or FCSS, Splunk Core Certified, or vendor training are preferred.

• Experience serving as a cybersecurity lead on large utility, data center, or industrial projects is preferred.

• Experience in developing AI-assisted engineering workflows is preferred.

• Configuration-as-code and scripting experience with PowerShell DSC, Ansible, or Python for Linux is preferred.

• Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

• Experience in a global, multicultural organization is preferred.
