
Senior Counsel – Legal Leasing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare, assess, and negotiate lease agreements and associated documents
• Evaluate requests from the leasing department and identify discrepancies
• Collect data, investigate previously negotiated terms, and create relevant documents
• Analyze tenant feedback and requests
• Engage in discussions on business matters with leasing representatives and propose solutions that align tenant needs with Company objectives
• Negotiate both business and legal aspects with tenants’ legal representatives
• Secure internal approvals for negotiated agreements
• Amend documents according to negotiation outcomes and management guidance
• Review finalized documents and initiate the Company execution process
• Offer legal drafting support on lease agreements prepared by the Senior Paralegal and Associate General Counsel I
• Draft and negotiate documents related to lease management and other non-lease matters
• Examine legal document requests from various departments and clarify the scope of projects
• Create or modify documents to address legal and business issues relevant to the department and Company
• Collaborate with leasing personnel, departmental representatives, legal management, and other stakeholders
• Oversee multiple projects, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously or as part of a team
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state
• Over 9 years of experience in drafting and negotiating retail space leases
• Preferred experience in drafting and negotiating retail leases in-house either with landlords or tenants
• Proficient in using company software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365, Ultimate Software, Workshare, and DocuSign
• Willingness to travel via commercial airlines
• Required to maintain a valid driver’s license and operate a personal or rental vehicle safely
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Capable of maintaining the confidentiality of privileged information
