This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Proactively recognize and mitigate legal and compliance risks within Product, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Market Access/Reimbursement, Research & Development, People Ops, and Finance.
• Identify deficiencies in current policies and procedures and lead the enhancement of compliance infrastructure.
• Create compliance processes and frameworks, gather feedback from internal stakeholders, draft policies/SOPs, and oversee their implementation and training.
• Draft, negotiate, review, interpret, and manage strategic, high-value contracts for the company.
• Address legal inquiries in unfamiliar subject areas by researching, gathering business insights, and resolving issues with appropriate escalation.
• Collaborate with legal team members to establish legal and compliance frameworks and programs for a lab services/life science organization.
• Provide advisory support to Finance, Sales, Market Access, Reimbursement, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and HR teams.
• Report directly to the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer & Secretary.
• Genuine enthusiasm and capability for learning new legal and business areas, with a proven history of managing projects in unfamiliar territories and bringing them to completion.
• Highly resourceful, adaptable, creative, and agile in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• A demonstrated ability to tackle unfamiliar legal challenges with minimal supervision and achieve positive outcomes for the business.
• Comfortable working with significant autonomy and ambiguity in a lean legal team, making informed decisions without a predefined guide.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions.
• Over 5 years of experience in a law firm and/or in an in-house legal department, preferably with exposure to life science or healthcare sectors.
• Experience advising commercial leaders and colleagues on business strategies, product promotion, sales programs, transactions, and various commercial initiatives.
• Proven experience in developing processes to meet legal/regulatory standards, drafting and implementing policies and procedures, and providing employee training.
• Familiarity with a mix of commercial compliance, securities/corporate governance, contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, as well as labor and employment matters.
• Strong team player willing to actively contribute wherever necessary.
• Excellent leadership abilities, with the capacity to effectively communicate legal solutions to leadership and colleagues in a collaborative yet consultative manner that aligns with business objectives while appropriately managing risks.
