This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Create and uphold comprehensive cost plans and estimates throughout the design and delivery phases.
• Generate and present monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and funding data.
• Collaborate with design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to validate and audit cost information.
• Assemble built cost records for benchmarking and ongoing improvements.
• Spearhead the development of procurement strategies, conduct pricing reviews, validate scopes, and lead commercial negotiations.
• Oversee final accounts to ensure timely agreements.
• Manage change control processes, including the review, estimation, negotiation, and reconciliation of change orders.
• Handle post-contract cost variances effectively.
• Assist with cost risk analysis, scenario planning, contingency management, and tracking of commitments.
• Ensure the establishment of robust cost control systems, including Earned Value Management where applicable.
• Integrate costs with schedules and scope alongside project controls and scheduling teams.
• Advocate for engineering priorities based on cost implications and lead initiatives in value engineering and cost optimization.
• Monitor market trends and provide timely insights.
• Serve as the primary interface for clients.
• Prepare executive-level updates, provide feedback on general contractor submissions, and revise cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with internal business management systems and delivery methodologies.
• Guide and mentor junior team members.
• Oversee margins and monthly forecasting of fees/resources.
• Comply with SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-7+ years of experience in cost management, particularly supporting mission-critical data center projects.
• Strong skills in cost planning, forecasting, change management, procurement, and project controls.
• Willingness to travel to the Frederick, Maryland project site for major activities, spending approximately 3-4 days onsite each month.
• Experience in construction consultancy is highly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of MEP systems, resilience considerations, and campus-scale infrastructure typical in hyperscale developments.
• Strong background in budgeting, financial reporting, cost control systems, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Expertise in procurement strategies and commercial management of contractor/vendor contracts.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward certification is a plus.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in industry-standard cost management tools and software.
• Ability to thrive in a remote work environment while maintaining engagement with onsite project teams and stakeholders.
