Senior Contested Case Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee all assigned contested foreclosure cases

• Actively monitor cases, recognize risks, and escalate issues as needed

• Collaborate independently with outside counsel to formulate and execute litigation strategies

• Draft written case summaries and engage in discussions about cases with counsel and external investors

• Evaluate new contested matters and devise risk assessment and resolution strategies

• Anticipate and strategize for all stages of litigation

• Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing witnesses for depositions, and coordinating document production

• Handle relationships with outside counsel, securing regular updates and ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations

• Review and authorize budgets and invoices from outside counsel

• Update and maintain the Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker litigation database

• Communicate litigation status, strategies, significant events, and deadlines to management and investors

• Monitor and follow up on hearings, depositions, motions, pleadings, and related activities

• Identify and alert the VP to high-risk matters upon intake

• Engage in settlement negotiations to resolve cases and reduce company risk and investor losses

• Assist with special projects assigned by management

• Support the VP in training staff involved in contested and litigation matters

• Respond to email inquiries within a 24-hour timeframe

• Suggest procedural modifications and enhancements for the department

• Conduct research and analyze requests based on established guidelines and determine suitable actions

• Uphold a high level of confidentiality


⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and investor and insurer guidelines related to residential mortgage servicing, including CFPB, GNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC

• Familiarity with mortgage loan servicing and the processes of default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and loss mitigation

• Exceptional communication, analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills

• Capability to prioritize and manage a substantial volume of diverse work

• Adaptability to a dynamic and fast-paced business environment

• Ability to achieve individual and team case management objectives

• Collaborative team player demonstrating professionalism and a positive attitude

• Skill in developing rapport with all levels of associates and establishing credibility

• Excellent listening capabilities and sound judgment

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities

• Proficient problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Capacity to produce high-quality work and address issues strategically

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks while consistently meeting deadlines

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution; or an Associate's degree from an accredited college along with a paralegal certification and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience as a paralegal or litigation specialist in mortgage servicing

• Required experience in the legal department of a mortgage servicer

• Familiarity with Legal Tracker or similar litigation case management databases, MSP, Black Knight/LPS, and Microsoft Office applications

• Knowledge of Internet Explorer

• Capability to generate reports; familiarity with Microsoft Excel is advantageous
