This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +1 more country.
• Assume complete responsibility for Unit4's ESG program, which encompasses CSRD and other climate disclosure responsibilities.
• Implement key workstreams as part of the wider compliance program.
• Create, maintain, manage version control, and globally disseminate policies.
• Oversee the ESG reporting schedule and disclosure requirements, including CSRD, GHG Protocol emissions reporting, Norway Transparency Act, and California SB 261.
• Supervise anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance, covering third-party and channel partner risks.
• Design and implement the compliance training program.
• Conduct the operational cadence of the legal and compliance program, which includes training, attestations, and reporting schedules.
• Manage sanctions and export control compliance, involving third-party screening, KYC due diligence, and ongoing monitoring.
• Enhance policy drafting, alignment, and global rollout processes.
• Organize, prioritize, and allocate resources for the compliance program.
• Perform regulatory horizon scanning across various jurisdictions.
• Develop ESG data collection and reporting systems, including responses to investor and shareholder ESG questionnaires and submissions for third-party ratings.
• Establish cross-functional intake and escalation pathways.
• Assist in managing the insurance portfolio.
• Serve as the primary legal contact for compliance-related RFPs and customer questionnaire needs.
• Counsel business teams on immediate compliance inquiries across all departments.
• Evaluate risk implications associated with new initiatives, partnerships, and acquisitions.
• Provide advice on strategic ESG positioning and practical implementation of ESG requirements.
• Offer policy interpretation and guidance.
• Report directly to the Assistant General Counsel, Head of Compliance & Risk, functioning as an individual contributor within the Legal team.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in executing, managing, or developing a global compliance program.
• Proven experience managing a comprehensive global ESG/CSRD reporting program from start to finish, including GHG Protocol and third-party ESG ratings.
• Strong, demonstrable interest and capability in compliance and risk management.
• Practical experience in providing compliance advice within a technology, SaaS, or software context.
• Experience in enhancing and accelerating policy drafting, alignment, and maintenance processes.
• Involvement in strategic compliance structuring reviews is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a larger team.
• A pragmatic, problem-solving approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Capacity to build trusted relationships across various functions.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote-first, multi-jurisdictional setting.
• JD/law degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in corporate governance is advantageous but not essential.
• May require security clearance for customer projects and access to sensitive customer data.
• May require disclosure of criminal record declaration, right to work, personal identification, and work history for background checks.
