This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Act as the subject matter expert and primary contact for compliance related to individual disability income products within the organization.
• Provide support for compliance regarding voluntary supplemental health products.
• Monitor, analyze, and interpret intricate federal and state statutes and regulations.
• Evaluate business impacts and relay regulatory implications to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business units to create compliant solutions.
• Conduct compliance monitoring, testing, and control assessments.
• Identify risks, perform root cause analysis, and suggest remediation strategies.
• Draft, revise, and maintain policies, procedures, job aids, training materials, and compliance guidance.
• Offer consultative compliance guidance for product design, implementation, and ongoing administration.
• Investigate complex compliance inquiries using both internal and external resources.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of advertising and customer-facing materials.
• Aid in new business acquisitions and market entry.
• Contribute to contract language for new products, enhancements, and single-case filings.
• Lead intricate multi-state filings and negotiate sensitive approvals with state insurance departments.
• Engage in trade association calls and industry meetings.
• Track industry trends and provide insights on new laws and product standards.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry contacts.
• Assist with internal audits and regulatory examinations.
• Organize documentation, respond to inquiries, and support corrective action plans.
• Deliver training, presentations, and guidance on compliance requirements and emerging regulatory trends.
• Collaborate across functions to deliver innovative solutions while ensuring compliant processes and controls.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, legal, or a related field; a degree is preferred.
• Professional certifications in compliance or insurance, such as AIRC or FLMI, are preferred.
• 4–6+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
• Proficiency in interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to business operations.
• Ability to convert complex regulations into practical guidance.
• Capability to manage intricate work, assess risk, and adhere to deadlines in a detail-oriented setting.
• Advanced understanding of individual disability insurance and/or supplemental health regulatory compliance environments.
• Experience with filings for individual disability insurance or supplemental health products, including the Interstate Insurance Compact, is preferred.
• Experience in developing training materials and compliance guidance is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to foster trust and effective partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Competence in managing competing priorities, working independently, and exercising sound judgment and discretion.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
