This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage the complete post-closing suspense process, which includes intake, assignment, aging, prioritization, escalation, and remediation.
• Perform in-file reviews and prepare responses or rebuttals to findings from Compliance PCQC.
• Create governance and escalation procedures for aged, overdue, or unresolved post-closing suspense items.
• Examine post-closing suspense trends to detect systemic, recurring, or significant deficiencies.
• Develop and implement periodic diagnostic testing for emerging risk identification.
• Oversee the compliance issue lifecycle from its identification through to closure.
• Serve as the primary contact for widespread or systemic issues and coordinate root-cause analysis, remediation, controls, monitoring, and documentation.
• Support corrective actions, implement controls, and conduct post-implementation validation testing.
• Promote continuous improvement through technology integration, workflow automation, and data analytics.
• Create and maintain a centralized issue management repository and reporting dashboards.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Change Management on regulatory updates and remediation efforts.
• Assess the effectiveness of remediation through post-closure testing and validation.
• Generate executive-level compliance reports for senior and executive leadership.
• Organize issue responses and accompanying materials for regulatory examinations, internal audits, investor reviews, and other oversight functions.
• Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a comparable combination of education and professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in a financial institution, ideally within a large or complex organization.
• 5+ years of experience in risk management or consumer compliance, specifically in relation to mortgage originations.
• Proven expertise in managing compliance issues, corrective action plans, post-closing deficiencies, root-cause analysis, remediation, and issue validation within a mortgage lending context.
• Advanced understanding of mortgage lending and compliance processes.
• Preferred advanced working knowledge of enterprise workflow platforms such as Encompass, Mavent, Jira, and Salesforce.
• Thorough understanding of mortgage loan operations and the associated control frameworks throughout the origination lifecycle.
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including Dodd-Frank, QM/ATR, RESPA, TILA, TRID, ECOA, HMDA, GLBA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, and SAFE Act.
