Senior Coding Compliance Auditor – Inpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support the creation and implementation of the Annual Compliance Workplan, which encompasses Auditing and Monitoring Workplans.

• Lead and conduct thorough Coding compliance audits, including intricate audits.

• Execute Management Action Plans and produce high-quality audit reports.

• Establish and uphold an Audit the Auditor Quality program.

• Mentor and provide guidance to both new and current Coding auditors.

• Examine audit results to uncover discrepancies, trends, and patterns that may indicate potential non-compliance.

• Formulate actionable recommendations to reduce risks and collaborate with service line leaders on Management Action Plans.

• Deliver regular audit and MAP updates to Compliance leadership and highlight potential compliance issues.

• Develop and maintain training materials for the audit process and offer training and support to auditors.

• Act as a resource for Coding leaders concerning compliance audit inquiries and issues.

• Keep records of compliance audits, analytical reports, issue logs, dashboards, documents, and other records.

• Aid in the onboarding process and task assignments for Compliance coding auditors and monitor their deliverables.

• Assist in the annual risk assessment and the development of the work plan.

• Assess internal and operational controls related to regulatory requirements and corporate integrity and compliance.

• Take part in evaluations of compliance program effectiveness and other assigned projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience in healthcare, acute coding, Compliance, audits, or a related area.

• Knowledge of ICD-10, DRG, CPT, and HCPCs coding, including experience with Acute Outpatient and Inpatient coding.

• Familiarity with revenue cycle operations, compliance standards, and auditing standards.

• Proficiency in Epic, Cerner, and/or Meditech.

• Basic understanding of Word and Excel.

• Willingness to travel long distances or by air, not exceeding 10% of the time.

• Must possess a curious mindset and be open to innovation, including AI technologies.

• Must be prepared to travel to and work on-site at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as required by business needs.

• Must hold and maintain at least one of the following certifications: CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT (CCS is preferred).

• CHC certification can be pursued at a designated time upon acceptance into the role.

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Health Records Management or Medical Coding is preferred.
