This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Assume technical responsibility for production Ceph clusters while continuously enhancing their architecture.
• Manage, administer, and optimize Ceph RBD along with Ceph object storage using RGW and an S3-compatible interface.
• Strategize, execute, and predominantly automate upgrades, expansions, and lifecycle operations.
• Evaluate performance, capacity, and stability challenges, proposing sustainable solutions.
• Advance automation efforts utilizing Ansible, Python, and Git to minimize manual interventions through reproducible processes.
• Integrate Ceph within OpenStack and Kubernetes frameworks.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, capacity management, and technical operational standards.
• Manage intricate incidents and issues in 2nd- and 3rd-level support, conducting root-cause analyses and formulating improvement measures.
• Document architectural choices, operational procedures, and automation processes in a manner that is auditable and traceable.
• Act as a technical point of contact for colleagues, sharing knowledge and fostering professional exchange.
• Multiple years of professional experience in engineering and managing complex Linux and storage infrastructures.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ceph in production settings.
• Excellent understanding of Linux and a solid grasp of distributed systems and their architectures.
• Familiarity with fault analysis, performance optimization, capacity planning, as well as upgrade and lifecycle processes.
• Proficient in automation using Ansible and ideally Python.
• Confident in utilizing Git and employing version-controlled working methods.
• Solid comprehension of network technologies such as routing, DNS, firewalling, and NAT.
• Analytical, organized, and solution-focused working style.
• Willingness to assume technical responsibility and transparently represent decisions.
• Proficient in written and spoken German and English.
• Completed IT training, a technical degree, or an equivalent qualification obtained through relevant professional experience.
