Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive cloud solutions encompassing compute, networking, identity, storage, and messaging.

• Influence cloud architecture choices across both Azure and AWS platforms.

• Establish enterprise architecture patterns and promote cloud best practices.

• Design and automate deployment solutions for containerized applications, serverless environments, and data/messaging services.

• Standardize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, including pipeline design, branching strategies, automated testing, release gating, and rollback procedures.

• Lead the adoption of infrastructure-as-code methodologies across Azure and AWS.

• Oversee the architecture of shared Kubernetes clusters, addressing namespaces, multi-tenancy, role-based access control (RBAC), and workload isolation.

• Assess and implement tools to enhance automation, deployment speed, and reliability.

• Set observability standards for monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing systems.

• Define and uphold data and infrastructure governance protocols.

• Manage incident response efforts and conduct post-mortem analyses.

• Provide mentorship to engineers in cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and troubleshooting techniques.

• Promote the adoption of best practices within scrum teams.

• Serve as a technical escalation resource for intricate architecture, deployment, and infrastructure challenges.

• Develop infrastructure, tools, and engineering practices that support scalable data and software products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Cloud Architecture, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, with involvement in multiple large or complex projects.

• Practical experience in designing comprehensive enterprise cloud solutions.

• In-depth expertise in CI/CD processes utilizing Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.

• Extensive experience with Azure and/or AWS across compute, networking, identity, storage, and messaging services.

• Proven experience with Kubernetes, including managing shared or multi-tenant clusters.

• Strong capabilities in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or CloudFormation.

• Familiarity with data governance and quality standards for cloud and infrastructure platforms.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, especially with data engineering and security teams.

• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD.

• Knowledge of DevSecOps methodologies.

• Background in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments and on-premises networking.

• Preferred certifications include Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

• Ability to work remotely from Toronto, ON.
