Senior Cloud DBA Engineer, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Implement, manage, and oversee NICE’s worldwide customer-hosted databases.

• Address client issues that necessitate direct interaction with the database infrastructure.

• Manage the AWS console effectively.

• Execute deployments for new database and RDS services.

• Perform health and availability assessments of AWS RDS databases utilizing CloudWatch and Performance Insights.

• Examine database logs and error logs for analysis.

• Set up, monitor, and adjust alert thresholds as needed.

• Carry out RDS instance actions and evaluate configurations against Terraform code.

• Handle PostgreSQL data export/import and execute SQL Server backup/restore tasks.

• Install and set up databases; configure backups, maintenance tasks, and other database functionalities.

• Manage database administration tasks, including restores, installation and removal of patchsets/service packs, edition upgrades/downgrades, and troubleshooting locking and corruption issues.

• Develop solutions that ensure minimal downtime.

• Execute operational responsibilities such as database backups, application server health evaluations, and service recycling.

• Detect and resolve operational challenges including batch failures, network problems, and client data-feed errors.

• Monitor server performance, memory use, CPU, file systems, databases, batch jobs, and backup/restore activities.

• Prepare, assess, test, and run T-SQL and PowerShell scripts for database administration tasks.

• Investigate performance concerns and deploy tuning solutions.

• Create and expand documentation, share insights, and support global database team members.

• Collaborate with monitoring tools.

• Offer 24x7 production SaaS infrastructure support, including on-call and off-hours/weekend assistance.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6 to 10 years of experience as a DBA managing various database engines.

• At least 6 years of pertinent DBA experience.

• Mandatory hands-on experience with multiple versions of PostgreSQL.

• Knowledge or experience with Microsoft SQL, Aurora, and MySQL is a plus.

• Practical experience with AWS Cloud and AWS RDS.

• Basic coding capabilities in PowerShell, Python, and Terraform.

• Understanding of AWS automated backups, historical backup schedules, and ad-hoc snapshots.

• Familiarity with ITIL practices, including incidents, service requests, and change management.

• Eagerness to learn about database and backup infrastructure technologies, including storage, backup solutions, operating systems, automation tools, cloud platforms, and additional database technologies.

• Capacity to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships in a global, diverse, and multicultural setting.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

• Willingness to engage in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours/weekend support.
