Senior Claims Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction, operational management, and hands-on oversight for AMSURG’s extensive claims portfolio.

• Oversee the complete claims lifecycle within the Risk Management department.

• Handle a portfolio that includes Workers’ Compensation, Property, General Liability, and Professional Liability claims.

• Take ownership of the evaluation and investigation of reported incidents, allegations, and claims.

• Independently evaluate liability, determine compensability, verify coverages, and manage notifications to carriers.

• Collaborate with external insurance adjusters and defense attorneys to develop defense strategies and enhance claim results.

• Execute releases or payments within the specified authority.

• Propel the strategic vision for the claims function while promoting continuous improvement, operational excellence, high performance, and compliance.

• Provide guidance to Corporate and Center personnel on claims-related matters.

• Optimize Return-to-Work programs and oversee subpoenas and requests for medical records.

• Analyze intricate claims data and third-party loss runs to identify risk trends.

• Convert data into actionable strategic insights and prepare ad-hoc reports for leadership.

• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, IT, Real Estate, and Operations to implement best practices in risk management.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

• At least eight (8) years of experience as a claims handler.

• Fundamental understanding of claims processes for litigated and non-litigated cases.

• Knowledge of reserve setting, claim finances, and loss run data analytics.

• Strong familiarity with state or federal regulations and statutes concerning insured claims is preferred.

• Experience in Professional Liability, Workers Compensation, and Property is highly preferred.

• Capability to evaluate and investigate reported incidents, allegations, and claims.

• Ability to assess liability, determine compensability, verify coverages, and manage notifications to carriers.

• Proficiency in managing external insurance adjusters and defense counsel.

• Skill in analyzing complex claims data and third-party loss runs.

• Competence in preparing ad-hoc reports for leadership.
