This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• Conduct investigations on assigned property damage and bodily injury claims.
• Assess claims in accordance with insurance contracts of affiliated companies and relevant laws.
• Provide defense as deemed appropriate.
• Determine necessary information and documentation for claim assessments.
• Assign tasks and oversee independent adjusters.
• Review public records and other relevant documents.
• Communicate with insured parties, claimants, and others via phone and written correspondence.
• Clarify claim processes, associated matters, and potential resolution options.
• Adhere to laws and regulations governing claims handling.
• Engage higher-level defense counsel as instructed and supervise the defense of insured parties when applicable.
• Collaborate with internal legal counsel as necessary.
• Analyze and establish the rights and responsibilities of the Company, insured parties, claimants, and others under relevant insurance contracts.
• Coordinate with the Legal Department on coverage matters, compliance in claims handling, and legal issues.
• Analyze, assess, and estimate liability for insured parties and losses for claimants/insureds.
• Identify potential losses that are covered by insurance contracts.
• Detect and report potential fraud to the Special Investigation Unit.
• Apply decision theory principles to assess claim settlement scenarios.
• Set and adjust case reserves.
• Review and approve or reject invoices for allocated loss adjustment expenses.
• Maintain and review claim diaries regularly.
• Negotiate and resolve claims within designated authority or submit requests for authority and recommendations to management.
• Keep accurate and timely records of communications and claim files.
• Establish and update units that reflect potential loss exposures.
• Provide claim information to managers and others as necessary.
• Obtain and sustain required licenses and certifications.
• Stay informed through professional literature, published opinions, trade periodicals, and conferences.
• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Proficient in the interpretation and application of insurance contracts.
• Familiarity with insurance claim procedures, loss evaluation techniques, and claim resolution options.
• Completion of insurance-related courses such as AIC or CPCU.
• Required licenses and certifications must be obtained and maintained.
• Skills in investigation.
• Proficient in evaluation and analysis.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Capable of case management.
• Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, particularly with individuals outside the Company.
• Ability to organize time and resources effectively and manage multiple high-priority tasks.
• Ability to research, evaluate alternatives, make decisions, and provide recommendations.
• Capability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to collaborate well with others.
