This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• Investigate property damage and bodily injury claims assigned under the insurance contracts of affiliated Companies.
• Assess claims and determine what information and documentation is required for resolution.
• Assign tasks to independent adjusters and review public records and other relevant documents.
• Communicate with insured individuals, claimants, and others via phone and written correspondence regarding claim details, processes, resolution options, and other related topics.
• Adhere to claims handling laws and regulations.
• Engage defense counsel when necessary and oversee the defense of insured parties, or collaborate with internal legal counsel as appropriate.
• Analyze insurance contract coverage to ascertain the rights and obligations of the Company, insureds, claimants, and other parties.
• Work in conjunction with the Legal Department on coverage issues, compliance with claims handling, and other legal matters.
• Assess, evaluate, and estimate the liability of the insured and the losses of claimants/insured parties.
• Identify and report potential fraud to the Special Investigation Unit.
• Apply decision theory principles to assess claim settlement scenarios.
• Establish and adjust case reserves as necessary.
• Review and either approve or deny invoices for allocated loss adjustment expenses.
• Maintain and review claim diaries and files.
• Negotiate and settle claims within established authority or propose resolutions to management.
• Document all communications and keep accurate electronic and other claim records.
• Provide claim information to managers and other stakeholders as needed.
• Stay updated on insurance and claims management principles through professional literature, published opinions, trade journals, and conferences.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications.
• Knowledge of the interpretation and application of insurance contracts.
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes, loss evaluation techniques, and claim resolution options.
• Completion of insurance-related courses such as AIC or CPCU.
• Skills in investigation.
• Proficient in evaluation and analysis.
• Strong negotiation abilities.
• Effective case management skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, particularly when interacting with individuals outside the Company.
• Capability to organize time and resources effectively and manage multiple high-priority tasks.
• Ability to research, evaluate alternatives, make decisions, and provide recommendations.
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to collaborate well with others.
