Senior Certified Coder – HB Inpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Evaluate intricate clinical and demographic data to allocate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient, surgical, and inpatient encounters.

• Facilitate precise DRG assignments while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

• Execute ICD-10-PCS and CPT procedure coding.

• Assign and verify MS-DRGs and/or APCs, capturing the severity of illness and risk of mortality.

• Review complex documentation, perform queries, and address discrepancies along with advanced coding edits.

• Oversee multiple work queues while sustaining coding accuracy and productivity.

• Offer mentorship and support to coding staff.

• Collaborate with CDI and healthcare providers to synchronize documentation and coding efforts.

• Resolve intricate coding challenges and communicate necessary coding decisions and documentation requirements.

• Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements and implement updated coding practices.

• Ensure coding outcomes align with reimbursement, reporting, and compliance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of coding experience.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Possession of one of the following certifications: AHIMA-RHIA, AHIMA-RHIT, AHIMA-CCS, AAPC-CPC, AAPC-CIC, or AAPC-COC.

• Demonstrated experience in applying ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS coding across outpatient, surgical, and inpatient settings.

• Familiarity with coding guidelines and DRG and/or APC logic.

• Capability to review complex documentation and resolve both routine and advanced coding edits.

• Ability to manage multiple work queues effectively.

• Proficient in independently interpreting clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and consistency.
