Revenue Cycle Coder, CPC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough reviews, audits, and analyses of medical record documentation.

• Identify relevant diagnoses and procedures while applying appropriate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes.

• Utilize coding software and reference materials effectively.

• Follow up with healthcare providers regarding incomplete, missing, or ambiguous documentation.

• Assist providers with queries related to coding and documentation guidelines.

• Offer constructive feedback, pinpoint educational opportunities, and share coding trends with leadership.

• Stay updated on carrier policies and guidelines, including Medicare, NCCI, and specific payer requirements.

• Analyze and resolve suspended charges resulting from claim edits or payer rejections.

• Review, rectify, and appeal coding-related denials.

• Communicate denial trends to leadership and team members to facilitate root-cause analysis and ongoing process enhancement.

• Correct and/or appeal denied claims due to coding inaccuracies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in coding or medical billing.

• Professional coder certification with credentials from AHIMA and/or AAPC, to be maintained annually.

• ICD-10 certified and/or possess extensive work experience in the field.

• Previous experience in orthopedic coding is highly preferred, especially in high-volume orthopedic and surgical clinics.

• Strong comprehension of physiology, medical terminology, and anatomy.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

• Self-motivated team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively.

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in computer skills.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.

• Experience in navigating EHRs to extract documentation.

• Must reside in WA, FL, NC, AZ, ID, OH, OR, TN, TX, or RI to qualify for remote hiring.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm PST.
