Medical Billing & Patient Accounts Specialist – Bilingual (Filipino / Spanish)

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage daily athenaOne billing worklists, claim hold queues, and claim status dashboards.

• Investigate, correct, and resubmit unpaid, rejected, or denied claims with commercial insurance payers, Medicare, and Medicaid.

• Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) in Athena to address claim discrepancies and process appeals.

• Respond to incoming patient phone inquiries regarding billing statements, account balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.

• Clarify medical bills, charge breakdowns, and insurance coverage decisions to patients via phone.

• Establish approved patient payment plans, process payments over the phone, and resolve patient billing disputes in Athena.

• Examine patient account ledgers to confirm insurance payment postings and adjustments to patient balances.

• Identify persistent billing errors or payer regulations to enhance revenue cycle management.

• Record insurance follow-up attempts and patient call interactions in patient charts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Direct, recent hands-on experience with athenaOne / AthenaHealth billing modules (Athena Collector, Claim Worklists, Hold Queues, Patient Statements).

• At least 2+ years of experience in U.S. medical billing, accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up, and insurance denial management.

• Demonstrated experience managing inbound patient billing calls.

• Outstanding telephone etiquette and conflict resolution abilities.

• Clear spoken English communication.

• Extensive knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding standards, modifiers, EOB/ERA interpretation, and payer-specific authorization guidelines.

• Dedicated, quiet home office environment.

• Familiarity with web-based VOIP phone systems.

• Bilingual proficiency in Filipino and Spanish as indicated by the job title.
