Senior Cancer Registrar – Part-Time Consultant, Domain Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Act as a subject matter authority on cancer registry data standards, abstraction processes, and reporting obligations.

• Deliver structured overviews of the registry lifecycle, from casefinding through abstraction, coding, quality assurance, submission, and feedback.

• Provide guidance on data dictionaries, staging schemas, and coding logic utilized across U.S. registries.

• Clarify registrars' daily operations, including their interactions with electronic health records (EHRs), pathology feeds, and state or federal reporting systems.

• Examine data models, variable mappings, and automation scenarios for alignment with registry standards.

• Engage in regular remote review meetings with technical and product teams.

• Offer occasional input on user interface/user experience (UI/UX) mockups, training materials, and prototypes for registry-related data capture.

• Assist in converting intricate oncology data workflows into digital, interoperable systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential in good standing (mandatory).

• 5 to 10+ years of direct experience in cancer registry operations.

• Experience should ideally encompass both facility-based and central registry environments.

• Knowledge of cancer case abstraction, staging, and coding conventions.

• Familiarity with data validation and quality assurance workflows.

• Understanding of NAACCR-style data items.

• Acquainted with common registry abstraction and validation tools.

• Knowledge of reporting processes to state or national programs.

• Comprehension of AJCC, TNM, ICD-O, SSDI, and related coding frameworks.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey complex registry processes to interdisciplinary teams.

• Availability for approximately 8 to 10 hours per week.

• Capability to collaborate remotely.

• Screening responses should address cancer registrar experience, registry lifecycle, technical tools, data standards, teaching or advisory experience, availability, and time zones or scheduling preferences.
