This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Classify products in accordance with import/export regulations and assess eligibility for regulatory programs pertaining to international imports and exports.
• Act as a liaison between UPS and governmental bodies.
• Address and resolve issues concerning customs declarations, shipping limitations, and tax obligations.
• Support classification decisions by utilizing General Rules of Interpretation, Explanatory Notes, CROSS, and various other resources.
• Participate in Country of Origin verification initiatives and reach out to suppliers for accurate Country of Origin information.
• Organize and manage product databases and classification information using Excel and Access.
• Input product classifications and supporting documentation into the proprietary operating system.
• Proactively communicate with customers, providing education on regulatory processes.
• Proficient in both French and English, with strong written and spoken communication skills — required.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, covering all five days of the week.
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Advanced computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• At least 5 years of experience in customs operations — required.
• Customs Specialist (CCS) certification — required.
• In-depth understanding of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations.
• Previous experience in International Trade, Logistics, or Freight Forwarding — preferred.
• Prior experience with classification and/or FTA determination — preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or an international equivalent — preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, basic research, attention to detail, and time management skills.
