Senior Backend Software Engineer – Product- and Fullstack-oriented

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage backend services and APIs with an emphasis on delivering user and business value.

• Engage in the discovery of problems and solutions, clarifying what needs to be developed and the reasons behind it.

• Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to independently prioritize tasks based on product and business impact.

• Actively utilize and critically assess AI tools throughout the engineering process.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the event-driven Kafka architecture.

• Make decisions regarding architecture and infrastructure.

• Hold end-to-end accountability for production services, ensuring stability, observability, and ongoing enhancement.

• Occasionally work across the entire stack, including minor adjustments to the frontend.

• Proactively identify product, process, and technical enhancements that provide measurable benefits to customers.

• Implement AI services within products.

• Collaborate closely with operations, sales, carriers, and other stakeholders to convert business objectives into scalable backend solutions.

• Foster a pragmatic, learning-oriented approach to engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in developing and managing backend systems.

• Strong product thinking and a sense of ownership for outcomes.

• Capability to independently identify issues, prioritize them, and drive solutions.

• Excellent knowledge of modern JVM technologies, preferably Kotlin with Ktor or Spring Boot.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL.

• Ability to balance technical excellence, delivery speed, and business requirements pragmatically.

• Basic knowledge of frontend code, such as Angular.

• Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and effective, business-focused communication.

• Practical experience in AI-assisted software development.

• Ability to critically assess AI-generated suggestions and take technical responsibility.

• Interest in continually integrating new AI tools into the engineering workflow.

• Experience in incorporating AI services into software products is advantageous.

• High level of ownership, curiosity, and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

• Proficient in German (B2) and English (C1).
