
Senior Backend Engineer – Go, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and deploy Go-based backend services for both consumer and enterprise product interfaces.
• Create and sustain REST and gRPC APIs, asynchronous workers, SDK authentication flows, and service integrations.
• Convert product and platform requirements into straightforward, dependable, and testable backend solutions.
• Enhance and manage AWS infrastructure, including Auto Scaling Groups (ASGs), Aurora, ElastiCache, SQS, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, zero-downtime deployment strategies, autoscaling systems, and operational reliability.
• Develop and strengthen authentication and authorization systems, such as JWTs, OAuth flows, sessions, and API key management.
• Implement rate limiting, audit logging, access controls, and secure client-facing data access mechanisms.
• Participate in compliance practices related to SOC 2 and HIPAA.
• Extend and maintain APIs for developers, backend systems for SDKs, enterprise integrations, and API key workflows.
• Work across both relational and NoSQL databases, data export pipelines, ingestion workflows, and structured logging.
• Troubleshoot performance and reliability challenges across distributed components.
• Enhance observability, trace failures, and quickly resolve issues.
• Develop capabilities for organization lifecycle management, user provisioning, activation, onboarding, and adherence reporting.
• Support multi-organization hierarchy management and enterprise administration processes.
• Independently deliver defined improvements in API, infrastructure, authentication, data pipelines, and reliability from conception to deployment.
• Strong, production-tested experience in Go engineering.
• Proven experience in building and operating backend services, APIs, and data systems within AWS.
• Understanding of distributed systems encompassing services, queues, databases, storage, and client-facing APIs.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, messaging or event systems, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization principles, including token lifecycle management, session management, OAuth, and API key management.
• Ability to independently manage scoped backend tasks from definition to deployment without close supervision.
• Clear communication of trade-offs, progress, and obstacles encountered.
• Comfort in a lean startup environment with evolving priorities.
• Effective utilization of AI-assisted coding workflows, including the use of multiple coding agents or model-assisted tasks.
• Willingness to complete a live coding assessment.
• Nice-to-have: experience in health technology, wearables, biometric data, IoT, or device-connected software.
• Nice-to-have: engineering experience that is aware of HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, or other compliance standards.
• Nice-to-have: experience with high-throughput data upload, ingestion, transformation, or export systems.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with developer platforms, SDKs, external APIs, enterprise integrations, or API management.
• Nice-to-have: experience with AI/ML platform infrastructure, MCP servers, or model-facing backend systems.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of mobile-connected systems involving iOS, Android, firmware, or device data flows.
• Fully remote, distributed team based in the U.S.
• Path for hands-on individual contributors.
• AI-assisted engineering workflows, utilizing tools like Claude or Cursor.
• Base salary ranging from $150,000 to $170,000.
• Compensation is influenced by experience, skill level, and performance in assessments.
