Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend systems that support the eCommerce platform.

• Create and construct resilient, scalable backend systems and services.

• Develop and manage APIs along with backend architecture.

• Architect infrastructure for job processing, analytics, and event tracking.

• Develop internal tools for authentication, rate limiting, and quota management.

• Collaborate with data pipelines and background processing systems.

• Enhance system performance, security, and scalability.

• Take ownership of the entire engineering lifecycle, covering code quality, testing, infrastructure, and monitoring.

• Work jointly with product, design, and customer experience teams to implement new features.

• Discover opportunities to enhance development processes, tools, and technical architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years' experience in building and maintaining production-quality backend systems.

• Proficient programming skills with the capacity to write clean, maintainable, and well-organized code.

• Background in designing databases, APIs, and backend infrastructure.

• Knowledge of high-throughput systems and background job queues.

• Strong sense of ownership regarding code, infrastructure, testing, and monitoring.

• Confidence in making sound technical decisions in a dynamic, early-stage environment.

• Genuine enthusiasm for improving developer experience and creating tools and systems for engineers.

• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.

• Familiarity with AWS (ECS, SQS, Parameter Store).

• Experience with Docker.

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and Redis.

• Experience with GitHub Actions.

• Familiarity with LogFire and Sentry.

• Desirable skills include: rate limiting, authentication systems, quota management, analytics, attribution engineering, event tracking, dbt, Snowflake, WYSIWYG editors, PDF generation/rendering, image manipulation, Next.js or Remix.
