Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for backend development from start to finish, encompassing technology selection, architectural design, and feature implementation that enhance platform performance and scalability.

• Adopt an AI-first approach by integrating coding agents, LLMs, and AI-assisted development into the daily workflow.

• Establish benchmarks for code quality, development practices, and CI/CD pipelines, collaboratively agreed upon and enforced during reviews.

• Guide and mentor engineers, disseminate knowledge, and elevate the standards of backend engineering.

• Question current methodologies and suggest improved practices.

• Design and optimize backend systems that support 40,000 buyers across more than 20 countries, facilitating the sale of 130,000 vehicles annually through the auction backend.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with more than 5 years specializing in backend development.

• Extensive proficiency in TypeScript, along with robust experience in Node.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor others: you have successfully guided engineers and elevated the overall standard within your team.

• Strong understanding of Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficient in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, with experience using JIRA and Confluence.

• Proficient in English at a C1 level or higher, both written and spoken, for regular communication with an international team.

• An AI-native work style: you incorporate AI tools into your development processes and can discern their effectiveness in enhancing productivity.

• Willingness to begin your workday at 7:00 AM Brazil local time.

• Nice to have: Experience with WebSockets or other real-time systems.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with search frameworks like Elasticsearch or Lucene.

• Nice to have: Background in the automotive industry or B2B trading.
