Senior Backend Developer, C/C++

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the backend software for Opus::L, primarily utilizing C and C++.

• Continuously improve existing software components from a technical standpoint.

• Modernize system architecture while integrating and advancing core system components.

• Establish connections to ActiveMQ, replace current CORBA structures, and implement modern REST services.

• Maintain and further develop existing backend components and scripts, especially in Tcl and Shell/Bash.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management to analyze and technically specify requirements.

• Implement and test new features with an emphasis on quality, performance, and user experience.

• Diagnose errors, debug, and maintain current software components.

• Document developed solutions and technical processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent vocational training as an IT specialist.

• A minimum of five years of professional experience in backend development, focusing on C and C++.

• Strong knowledge of C and C++, with substantial experience in maintaining and evolving existing codebases.

• Comprehensive understanding of modern C++ and the Standard Library, particularly C++20/23, RAII, and smart pointers.

• Additional experience with Qt and Boost is advantageous.

• Required: Proven experience with Docker.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation, preferably with GitHub.

• Practical experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS Cloud Services (optional).

• A passion for leveraging AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, ideally with hands-on experience, along with a willingness to conduct professional reviews and ensure quality.

• Experience with Clean Code principles.

• Proficient in test-driven development (TDD), unit and integration testing, and familiar with common testing frameworks.
