Senior Backend Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and implementation of features across the data platform and public API services, encompassing the ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of security data.

• Influence system design, architecture, and data flow decisions in collaboration with product and platform engineering teams.

• Develop, deploy, and manage Scala-based backend services in a production environment, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

• Assist in the migration of selected APIs from Scala to Rust.

• Establish standards for code quality, documentation, and operational excellence.

• Lead design and code review processes; engage in on-call duties and incident response activities.

• Support and enhance the Python-based security analysis platform, which includes malware analysis engines, automated threat detection, and workflows for machine learning models.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of backend engineering experience, particularly with a recent focus on a JVM-based codebase.

• Proven experience in designing and managing distributed systems from inception to completion.

• Familiarity with Rust, or a well-informed understanding of its appropriate use, along with the capability to assist in a migration process.

• Strong comprehension of APIs, messaging systems (such as Kafka), and contemporary data stores (including Postgres, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch).

• Experience in building services within a cloud-native environment, ideally AWS.

• Proficient knowledge of containers and Kubernetes.

• Comfortable operating in a remote-first, asynchronous team setting.

• Bonus: Knowledge of functional programming patterns and idiomatic Scala.

• Bonus: Experience with Databricks and ClickHouse or comparable lakehouse and analytical/OLAP data stores.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Terraform, Helm, and GitHub Actions.

• Bonus: Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.

• Bonus: Previous experience in security products, data pipelines, or high-availability systems.

• Bonus: Python development experience with security analysis tools and malware detection frameworks like YARA, PE analysis, and binary analysis.

• Bonus: Understanding of machine learning workflows, AutoML, and MLflow for model deployment and management.

• Bonus: Experience with binary analysis libraries including LIEF, ssdeep, and TLSH, as well as integration with security tooling.
