Senior Azure DevOps Engineer – Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design and implement Azure tenant platforms in accordance with Microsoft CAF standards.

• Develop, deploy, and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions utilizing Terraform.

• Establish Azure landing zones to facilitate application and workload migrations.

• Oversee and enhance CI/CD pipelines, source control, and project workflows using Azure DevOps.

• Deploy infrastructure and applications into Azure, including securing environment approvals, security gates, and promoting container images across environments.

• Review peer pull requests and manage infrastructure requests from application teams within a Kanban workflow.

• Automate processes for resource provisioning, scaling, and infrastructure management.

• Create and sustain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

• Implement and oversee Azure security controls, including IAM configurations.

• Ensure governance and policy compliance throughout Azure environments.

• Monitor infrastructure environments for performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide infrastructure solutions that meet business needs.

• Offer technical guidance, troubleshooting, and operational support to stakeholders.

• Contribute to initiatives focused on continuous improvement in cloud governance, automation, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 9 years of hands-on experience in DevOps and cloud environments.

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing Azure tenant platforms aligned with Microsoft CAF.

• Proficiency in building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.

• Experience in setting up Azure landing zones for application and workload migrations.

• Familiarity with Azure networking, including hub-spoke topology, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway/ExpressRoute, private endpoints with Private DNS Zones, NSGs, and route tables.

• Practical experience with Terraform state management, imports, drift detection and reconciliation, refactoring live infrastructure, and managing secrets with Azure Key Vault, including rotation.

• Strong automation and scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

• Knowledge of Azure identity and security concepts, including Managed Identities, workload identity federation (OIDC), least-privilege RBAC, and PIM.

• Hands-on experience with Azure compute services such as AKS, Container Apps, App Service, and Function Apps, including Key Vault integration and Azure Container Registry.

• Experience with Azure Policy implementation, including custom definitions, deny/modify effects, and tag inheritance.

• Background in enforcing governance and policy compliance via management group inheritance.

• Capability to monitor cloud environments for performance, security, and cost optimization.

• Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Ability to provide technical guidance and support across cross-functional teams.

• Proficient spoken English (B2+) for discussing technical scenarios live with US-based stakeholders.

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is advantageous.

• Preferable skills include Azure Data Factory/Databricks, Azure messaging, Azure API Management, Bicep, and AI-assisted engineering tools.

• Strong expertise in the Azure Cloud Platform and Microsoft CAF.

• Practical experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation scripting.

• Comprehensive understanding of Azure networking, identity, and security architecture, paired with Terraform expertise.
