
Senior Audit Manager – Special Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
• Supervise Special Tax audit operations to guarantee precise, efficient, and timely completion.
• Provide expert analysis and application of tax laws and regulations to intricate audit matters.
• Act as the final authority on audit conclusions and tax law application issues.
• Review and sanction audit findings, reports, and recommendations prior to final issuance.
• Create, implement, and oversee the annual audit budget.
• Monitor expenses, financial performance, KPIs, workflow, staffing, and productivity.
• Enhance efficiency and resource allocation.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and assess audit personnel.
• Make recommendations and decisions concerning hiring, promotions, and terminations.
• Coordinate legal representation for audits contested in court.
• Collaborate with legal counsel regarding facts, documentation, and audit positions.
• Maintain client relationships through communication, site visits, and professional consultation.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Identify and implement process enhancements.
• Provide strategic direction and leadership for departmental and organizational objectives.
• Travel as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• 5-12 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced understanding of state and local tax laws, regulations, statutes, and procedures.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with corporate accounting, direct and indirect transactional taxes, and other business accounting functions.
• Capability to analyze tax-sensitive general ledger accounts.
• Intermediate to advanced tax research skills.
• Strong comprehension of accounting principles and analytical skills.
• Ability to organize, plan, and direct effectively.
• Professional demeanor, customer service-oriented, tactful, dependable, and adaptable.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to work effectively with personnel at all levels of the Company.
• Proficient knowledge of Accounting Systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, flexibility, and reliability.
• CPA or CIA certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Knowledge or experience in state and local tax preferred.
