
Senior Audit Manager – Special Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
• Supervise Special Tax audit operations to guarantee audits are precise, efficient, compliant, and finalized within deadlines.
• Analyze and apply tax laws and regulations to intricate audit scenarios.
• Act as the ultimate authority on audit conclusions and tax law application matters.
• Evaluate and authorize audit findings, reports, and recommendations.
• Create, implement, and oversee the annual audit budget.
• Track expenses, financial performance, KPIs, workflow, staffing, and productivity metrics.
• Enhance efficiency and resource utilization.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and assess audit personnel.
• Provide recommendations and decisions regarding hiring, promotions, and terminations.
• Coordinate legal representation for audits that are challenged in court.
• Collaborate with legal counsel concerning facts, documentation, and audit positions in formal proceedings.
• Sustain client relationships through communication, site visits, and professional consultation.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant laws.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to improve audit quality, consistency, and client satisfaction.
• Offer strategic direction and leadership for departmental and organizational goals.
• Travel as necessary.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• 5-12 years of relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, statutes, and procedures.
• Comprehensive understanding and experience in corporate accounting, direct and indirect transactional taxes, and other business accounting functions.
• Capability to analyze tax-sensitive general ledger accounts.
• Intermediate to advanced tax research skills.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles along with robust analytical skills.
• Ability to organize, plan, and direct activities effectively.
• Professional demeanor, customer service-oriented, tactful, reliable, and adaptable.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in collaborating with personnel at all levels within the Company.
• Solid working knowledge of Accounting Systems and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, flexibility, and reliability.
• CPA or CIA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• State and local tax knowledge or experience is preferred.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the day.
• Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment.
• Occasionally moves around the office.
• Frequently communicates via telephone.
