Senior Analytics Engineer, Regulatory Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the regulatory reporting data platform requirements, collaborating directly with regulatory authorities to define and refine specifications as prediction markets progress.

• Design and architect tailored dbt models and pipelines that connect directly to raw data, enabling regulatory reports to operate independently from upstream analytics models.

• Establish automated validation layers, which include test cases, cross-validation of reporting outputs, and alerting mechanisms.

• Lead support for audits and examinations, manage the data aspect of examination responses, and act as the team's representative with regulators and internal compliance.

• Conduct investigations into discrepancies to determine root causes, maintain the engineering relationship, and set standards for permanent resolutions.

• Design and manage the on-call rotation framework for the wider team.

• Define the monitoring and governance processes for upstream data changes from product and engineering through the reporting layer.

• Own the roadmap for surveillance reporting, market maker monitoring, and pre-launch submission validation.

• Build the regulatory reporting infrastructure from scratch for Underdog's prediction markets business.

• Collaborate across engineering, product, compliance, and senior leadership teams.

• Proficient in SQL and dbt: Capable of writing complex queries, developing modular dbt models with appropriate testing, and committed to delivering high-quality outputs.

• Builder mindset: Eager to create a platform rather than just maintain spreadsheets. Thinks in terms of systems, pipelines, and automation, understanding what it takes to establish reliable operations.

• Investigative: When issues arise, digs deep into raw data, pursuing root causes relentlessly until the exact issue and its reasons are identified.

• Regulator-facing: Capable of engaging in discussions with regulatory bodies, translating vague requirements into precise data definitions, and effectively representing the team externally.

• Dependable under deadlines: Recognizes the importance of owning a process with fixed cutoffs. Takes accountability, communicates proactively when issues arise, and ensures nothing is left for others to resolve.

• Experience in a federally regulated environment, particularly within a prediction markets platform, fintech, crypto exchange, or neobank (bonus points).

• Background in regulatory reporting, reconciliation, or trade-level data within a technology-driven financial company (bonus points).

• Experience in the sports industry, especially in fantasy sports or sports betting (bonus points).

• Proven experience in constructing automated reporting pipelines or validation frameworks from the ground up (bonus points).

• Familiarity with data contracts, schema registries, or similar methodologies for managing upstream data dependencies (bonus points).

• Knowledge of FIXML, FIX protocol, or other financial messaging formats utilized in trade reporting (bonus points).

• Experience with orchestration tools (such as Airflow) and pipeline monitoring (bonus points).

• Proficient in Python for data analysis, tooling, or light automation tasks (bonus points).

• Any exposure to prediction markets, derivatives, or exchange operations (bonus points).
