Senior AI Software Engineer – LLM Applications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

• Transform product concepts into tangible technical solutions.

• Evaluate architecture, models, interfaces, risks, and dependencies.

• Create production-level AI applications and agentic systems.

• Seamlessly integrate AI applications into current applications, data flows, and system landscapes.

• Take into account evaluation, monitoring, security, and costs from the beginning, maintaining responsibility for them post go-live.

• Ensure the quality and release of production systems are upheld.

• Make implementation choices aligned with engineering standards.

• Convert AI concepts and prototypes into systems ready for production.

• Take charge of what enters production and its operational reliability.

• Guarantee measurable impact after the system goes live.

• As a Senior Engineer: Take ownership of the architecture of an AI system or domain.

• As a Senior Engineer: Design solutions in close collaboration with customers.

• As a Senior Engineer: Share expertise and develop reusable solutions for the team.

• Offer recommendations regarding deviations from standards, model selection with cost or data protection implications, and project priorities.

• Provide a professional statement outlining your motivation, challenges faced, overlooked aspects, and a significant LLM, RAG, or agentic application you developed or managed.

• Explain how models, retrieval methods, tools, and agents were selected, integrated, assessed, and operated after going live.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in developing production-quality software.

• As a Senior Engineer: Proven experience in owning systems, domains, and architectural decisions through to operations.

• Hands-on production experience with LLM, RAG, or agentic applications—not limited to prototypes.

• As a Senior Engineer: Technical ownership of such systems.

• Utilize AI agents as a fundamental part of the engineering workflow, featuring review loops and clear accountability for production results.

• Strong skills in backend development.

• Comfort with APIs and system integration.

• Familiarity with testing, security, and operational processes.

• Ability to evaluate and offer sound recommendations on the effort, value, feasibility, and risks associated with AI options.

• As a Senior Engineer: Collaborate directly with customers to design solutions.

• Share knowledge within the team and during review sessions.

• As a Senior Engineer: Provide technical mentorship to other engineers and establish reusable solutions.

• An innate ability to discern whether an AI feature genuinely benefits users.

• Proficiency in German for customer-facing interactions.

• Proficient in English.

• Familiarity with, or eagerness to learn, TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, REST/GraphQL, Python, vector databases, evaluation frameworks, observability tools, MCP, impact measurement, data analysis, cost and quality management for AI systems, the EU AI Act, data protection, and AI labeling.
