Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to identify workflows, challenges, bottlenecks, and manual procedures.

• Discover opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or re-engineer processes.

• Convert operational issues into effective AI-driven tools, automations, and software solutions.

• Manage solutions from beginning to end, encompassing process discovery, solution design, implementation, deployment, adoption, and iteration.

• Develop and integrate AI-enhanced applications utilizing LLMs, APIs, internal systems, and workflow automation.

• Perform both front-end and back-end development as required.

• Evaluate the impact of solutions and continuously enhance them based on user feedback, operational metrics, and observed results.

• Assist the Operations team in addressing complex and repetitive operational challenges through process enhancement, automation, and AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering, automation, AI engineering, or a related technical field.

• Strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript (React, Node.js) and/or Python.

• Experience in developing practical software solutions and integrating various systems through APIs.

• Direct experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or equivalent models.

• Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with data to analyze processes and measure results.

• A robust continuous improvement mindset.

• Experience collaborating with business or operational stakeholders to translate vague issues into tangible solutions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• High levels of ownership and autonomy, with a tendency toward experimentation and execution.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.

• AI proficiency at least Level 1 (Explorer).

• Experience with Lean, Kaizen, continuous improvement, process engineering, or operational excellence methodologies is preferred.

• Familiarity with automating operational workflows or transforming manual business processes is advantageous.

• Knowledge of RAG pipelines is a plus.

• Practical experience in building or orchestrating AI agents is beneficial.

• Experience with workflow automation platforms or agentic systems is desirable.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is an asset.

• Understanding of AI governance principles is advantageous.
