Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive delivery of sophisticated AI products, including agentic workflows, RAG systems, and various services.

• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, as well as clinical and operational teams.

• Convert stakeholder requirements into validated, access-aware AI workflows that feature clear system behaviors, acceptance criteria, risk management, and delivery trade-offs.

• Create AI workflows and RAG product lines, focusing on ingestion, retrieval quality, attribution, confidence management, agent tools, and human-review processes.

• Execute workflows with dependable AI control layers and enhance healthcare AI models through prompting, retrieval, reranking, fine-tuning, and model selection strategies.

• Manage healthcare AI evaluation and release frameworks, including adversarial testing, regression thresholds, release gates, and production telemetry.

• Offer senior technical leadership through design and code evaluations, incident management, mentoring, and sustainable engineering improvements.

• Provide healthcare AI services utilizing approved cloud capabilities and HITRUST-aligned measures for PHI/PII, security, privacy, auditability, responsible AI, and compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Linguistics, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.

• Generally, 5+ years of pertinent engineering experience, including ownership of complex production components or technical leadership in feature delivery.

• Practical experience in delivering and operating production or near-production AI/ML/LLM-enabled applications.

• Strong software engineering skills in service and data contract design, testing, CI/CD, observability, debugging, reliability, and operational support.

• High proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, C#, TypeScript, or a similar modern programming language.

• Extensive understanding of structured outputs, RAG, tool usage, evaluations, guardrails, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop design principles.

• Experience with cloud services and data-intensive systems; capable of collaborating across structured and unstructured data pipelines.

• Proven ability to independently explore emerging AI capabilities through self-initiated prototypes, tools, experiments, or applications.

• Experience in converting AI experimentation into production solutions for enterprise or regulated environments, with a focus on safety, reliability, security, governance, and measurable outcomes.

• Preferred: Background in healthcare involving PHI/PII, clinical or operational workflows, payer/provider operations, auditability, safety reviews, compliance controls, or value-based care.

• Preferred: Familiarity with cloud AI and data platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Agent Bricks, Genie, Azure AI Foundry/Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, AKS/Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, or AI observability and evaluation tools.

• Preferred: Experience with model benchmarking, selection, adaptation, fine-tuning, reranking, or other domain-model optimization techniques.

• Preferred: Experience leading technical initiatives across teams or mentoring multiple engineers.
