Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Director of Generative AI to create comprehensive AI solution architectures, which include agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, and connections to enterprise systems.

• Take ownership of and contribute to the technical implementation of designated AI solutions.

• Assess Azure hosting, storage, and computing strategies to meet solution requirements.

• Adhere to engineering standards concerning code quality, security, testing, deployment, and documentation.

• Assist in the deployment, configuration, and operational management of AI services within Microsoft Azure.

• Oversee deployed services, tackle performance and reliability challenges, and ensure documentation is maintained.

• Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, and security partners on enterprise architecture and compliance matters.

• Develop Python-based FastAPI services, automation workflows, integration pipelines, React/Vite/Chakra UI components, and Node.js integrations as necessary.

• Engage in code reviews and offer technical insights.

• Work with the AI development team to clarify project requirements and address any obstacles.

• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospective meetings.

• Share technical expertise through pair programming, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.

• Elevate complex technical challenges and assist in planning for their resolution.

• Maintain Azure DevOps work items and enhance development workflows.

• Support the assessment of technical feasibility, effort estimation, and risk identification for proposed use cases.

• Communicate technical decisions and architectural considerations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline; relevant professional experience may be accepted in place of a formal degree.

• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to AI/ML development or enterprise AI system implementation.

• Strong command of Python, including back-end service development with FastAPI, REST API design and integration, and automation scripting.

• Practical, hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud-hosted services in Microsoft Azure, including App Services (Web Apps), Function Apps, CosmosDB, Container Registry, Azure AI Search, Key Vault, as well as Azure networking and security essentials.

• Proven experience in constructing RAG architectures, including vector indexing, semantic search, and LLM API integration (Azure OpenAI or equivalent).

• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks, particularly LangChain and/or LangGraph, involving multi-step orchestration, tool utilization, and stateful agent design.

• Familiarity with front-end development using React (Vite-based builds).

• Experience collaborating with engineers across various experience levels.

• Ability to analyze architecture trade-offs, failure modes, security concerns, and long-term maintainability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting technical designs and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Preferred: experience with MCP or similar tool-calling and service integration patterns.

• Preferred: knowledge of Node.js as a back-end integration layer.

• Preferred: experience integrating with SharePoint, Confluence, SAP, or other similar enterprise platforms.

• Preferred: familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipeline configuration, or infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Preferred: experience in a large, multi-subsidiary, or matrixed enterprise environment.
