AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop streamlined, tailored AI/LLM solutions that effectively balance quality, performance, and cost.

• Create, construct, and launch AI-driven features across the Shape App and its Channels.

• Collaborate with product teams to convert user needs into AI opportunities and define technical requirements.

• Manage the entire AI feature lifecycle, from exploration and prototyping to production deployment and continuous iteration.

• Integrate AI functionalities into applications through prompt engineering, model selection, fine-tuning, and evaluation.

• Contribute high-quality production code alongside fellow engineers.

• Work together with SREs to enhance infrastructure, observability, scalability, reliability, and security.

• Stay updated with advancements in LLMs and generative AI while maintaining a product-first perspective.

• Serve as the primary expert on AI/LLMs, helping to shape the company’s AI capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience applying LLMs and generative AI to practical challenges.

• Strong foundation in Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Transformers, OpenAI APIs).

• Experience with evaluating multiple models and implementing feedback loops.

• Proven production experience with embeddings, vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.

• Familiarity with MLOps tools and observability for inference pipelines.

• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with engineers, designers, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Nice to have: experience with production environments, APIs, and containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Nice to have: involvement in AI communities, research papers, or open-source projects.
