Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Design and develop intricate backend AI modules, agentic workflows, multi-step reasoning chains, and orchestrated tool-use pipelines.

• Transform architectural blueprints into robust, production-ready code that includes error handling, observability hooks, and latency objectives.

• Take ownership of the complete delivery of AI components from initial scaffold to deployment.

• Utilize AI coding assistants to enhance productivity while ensuring code quality and architectural consistency.

• Architect and refine RAG pipelines that handle unstructured, messy, and multi-modal data.

• Implement chunking strategies, embedding models, and re-ranking techniques to enhance retrieval accuracy.

• Develop vector database solutions tailored to query patterns, data volumes, and latency requirements.

• Identify and resolve production retrieval failures related to chunking, embedding, indexing, or prompt construction.

• Create and sustain agentic systems focused on tool selection, memory architecture, and failure recovery.

• Manage constraints related to context windows and ensure graceful degradation.

• Optimize prompt pipelines for latency and cost efficiency using data-driven benchmarks.

• Deploy AI services utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and containerized environments.

• Write unit, integration, and AI evaluation tests.

• Maintain production systems with structured logging, alerting, and cost monitoring.

• Abstract reusable internal tools, libraries, and services based on client-engagement patterns.

• Document internal tools for autonomous use by other engineers.

• Contribute to Cadre AI's internal AI platform, participate in architecture reviews, and propose improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering.

• At least 1 year of experience in building and deploying production AI agents in a client-facing or fast-paced product setting.

• Practical experience with vector databases, advanced RAG optimization, and agentic orchestration.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Strong understanding of backend architecture patterns, including API design, asynchronous processing, parallel execution, and secure credential management.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi.

• Experience with deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of maintainable and scalable deployment practices.

• Systems design instincts that prioritize abstraction and reuse.

• Certified Claude Architect or the ability to obtain certification within the first 60 days.

• AI-native working style with effective use of coding assistants.

• Capability to tackle unstructured data challenges and legacy integration constraints.

• Strong sense of ownership, including proactive escalation of early blockers and accountability for system quality.
