Senior AI Enablement Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Enablement & coaching — collaborate directly with engineers through individual sessions, pair programming, workshops, office hours, and cohort activities to enhance their effectiveness in AI-assisted development: including prompting, workflow design, and model/tool selection. Recognize areas of under-adoption and elevate teams to meet standards.

• Best-practice propagation — document effective strategies (and those that do not succeed) within a team and systematically share them: developing living best-practice guides, prompt libraries, troubleshooting playbooks, and maintaining an internal AI knowledge base and skills registry.

• Scale through champions — establish and support a network of embedded AI champions to ensure enablement extends beyond a single individual.

• Unblocking & feedback loop — serve as the primary resource when engineers encounter difficulties with AI tools. Actively engage with teams to identify blockers early, consolidate them into patterns, and escalate systemic issues to leadership.

• Internal integrations & tooling — create internal AI integrations and reusable tools hands-on (Node.js/TypeScript, MCP) — managing the process from prototype to production independently, including authentication, access control, security review, and CI/CD.

• Evaluation & scouting — conduct structured evaluations of AI tools, models, and internal integrations; keep abreast of the rapidly evolving landscape (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot/Codex, new model releases) and provide curated, actionable recommendations.

• Measurement & impact — establish and monitor adoption and productivity metrics by team, tool, and individual. Develop dashboards to reflect real usage and output — adoption/active-usage rate, assistant acceptance rate, PR throughput and cycle time — while maintaining a quality guardrail (change failure rate) to ensure speed does not compromise quality. Reference frameworks include DX Core 4 and DORA.

• Cross-functional partnering — collaborate with security/compliance to implement safe-by-design guardrails, and work with GTM to translate field needs into internal enablement while providing feedback on adoption patterns.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior, hands-on engineer with a robust full-stack background — 7+ years of experience in a product-driven environment.

• Proficient in Node.js/TypeScript for developing services and integrations, along with a working knowledge of relational and document databases.

• Extensive hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) — understanding their internal workings, not just their usage — as well as familiarity with the complete AI-assisted development workflow.

• Proven experience taking internal integrations from prototype to production independently — encompassing design, authentication/authorization, deployment, security review, and CI/CD.

• Experience in building integrations with third-party APIs and agent-tooling protocols (e.g., MCP).

• Working knowledge of GenAI building blocks: LLMs, prompting, RAG, orchestration, agentic flows, and AI/tooling security.

• Strong teaching, facilitation, and technical writing capabilities — skilled at explaining complex topics to engineers at various levels and producing guides, workshops, and walkthroughs.

• Cross-functional operating skills — adept at influencing without authority and coordinating with IT, DevOps, security, and GTM teams.

• Ability to navigate ambiguous, open-ended problems independently and drive them to conclusion, synthesizing multiple inputs (1:1s, feedback, surveys) into prioritized actions.

• Proficiency in English at the C1 level sufficient for effective written and verbal technical communication with both internal and external audiences.
