This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take ownership of backend services from start to finish, encompassing architecture, implementation, infrastructure, deployment, production, and scaling.
• Design and manage high-throughput, low-latency Java services utilizing JDK 17+ on AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and ArgoCD.
• Construct resilient distributed components and optimize memory, concurrency, and garbage collection for production workloads.
• Architect MySQL and Redis layers capable of managing millions of player records.
• Oversee CI/CD processes, observability, and on-call responsibilities for deployed systems.
• Execute agentic workflows utilizing precise specifications, feedback loops, generated tests, and validation gates.
• Make final decisions regarding architecture, security, and performance.
• Contribute to the definition of tooling, review standards, and completion criteria for agentic practices throughout the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with professionals from Goodgame Studios to integrate concepts into MMO strategy games.
• A minimum of 6 years of expert-level backend Java experience.
• Proficiency in distributed systems, concurrency, garbage-collection tuning, and SQL optimization.
• Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Proven agentic coding practices.
• Ability to structure prompts and context for prolonged tasks.
• Capability to assess when agents should operate autonomously and when intervention is necessary.
• Experience in managing multi-agent setups and developing custom tools or skills.
• Ability to evaluate agent-generated code and uphold quality standards.
• Strong analytical skills for transforming vague product requests into clear constraints.
• Architectural insight and the capacity to design clean, resilient systems.
• Highly proficient in English.
• For full-time remote positions: must be located in Germany and possess a valid German visa.
• Freelance candidates should operate within the German time zone (CET/CEST).
• Experience in gaming backend, event-driven architectures, real-time telemetry or anti-cheat systems, and published agentic workflow projects is advantageous.
