This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Conduct comprehensive and intricate risk assessments, detailed data analyses, and advanced financial forecasting.

• Create complex models and manipulate data for pricing and/or reserving property and casualty insurance products.

• Design, develop, and produce critical reports while offering recommendations to leadership.

• Analyze data, generate materials, and prepare communications.

• Compile and organize data for actuarial review.

• Draft reports, proposals, system documentation, filing assistance, and documentation files.

• Suggest enhancements to actuarial methodologies, analyses, and data collection techniques.

• Present project data, findings, and recommendations to management and senior leaders.

• Provide consultation and clarification regarding intricate actuarial and risk assessment models.

• Instruct junior analysts in fundamental actuarial methods and techniques.

• Formulate and interpret complex mathematical models for rate-making and/or reserving.

• Conduct ad hoc analyses, including classification, inflation, and tail factor analyses.

• Assist with state and regulatory filings and respond to inquiries from auditors and DOIs.

• Collaborate with IT and business technical support to collect and verify data.

• Research relevant trend indicators and offer material and verbal support for recommendations.

• Execute actuarial adjustments to fulfill analytical requirements.

• Lead projects and assignments as necessary.

• Coordinate and implement scheduled rate reviews and indications.

• Generate competitive product and rate comparison reports.

• Analyze competitors’ rate structures and coverage options.

• Develop and prepare competitor rate manual analyses.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

• Successful completion of five or more actuarial examinations.

• Maintain eligibility in the Actuarial Professional Development Program according to department guidelines.

• At least four years of experience in an actuarial setting.

• Experience in pricing or reserving property and casualty insurance products.

• Proficiency in formulating and interpreting mathematical rate-making or reserve models.

• Experience in analyzing technical studies and data, leading to sound conclusions.

• Experience in conducting research and statistical analysis.

• Familiarity with PC software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Proficiency with statistical software tools and/or statistical modeling concepts.

• Experience in coordinating and executing projects.

• Experience preparing reports and exhibits for management review.

• Experience with modeling and intricate quantitative analysis.

• Experience in three or more of the following: property and casualty rate filings; property and casualty regulatory filings and statements; competitive product and rate comparison analysis reports; actuarial research related to insurance operations; development, implementation, or enhancement of rating plans or reserving methods; classification, inflation, and tail factor analysis.

• Must agree to a background check and drug screening if offered employment.

• Regular and reliable attendance is crucial.
