Security Analyst Co-Op – Spring 2027 Semester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Respond to alerts and verify findings.

• Raise security incidents to incident response teams for investigation and resolution.

• Assist in incident response investigations for Coretek and its clients.

• Acquire skills in analyzing logs and alerts.

• Collaborate with relevant teams to provide support for incident handling and response.

• Learn to utilize and enhance incident response procedures and documentation.

• Manage security incident escalations through Cyber Case Management tools, SIEM, ITSM, email, and phone.

⛳️ Requirements

• Understanding of incident response, investigations, system forensics, or related cyber security education/self-study.

• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, including command line usage.

• Basic knowledge of networking principles and TCP/IP.

• Awareness of common network services and typical client/server applications.

• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff.

• Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing technical issues.

• Quick learner of new technologies and concepts.

• Willingness to work on a shift schedule.

• Preferred educational background in incident response, forensics, cyber security case management, IT technology, networking, or related areas.

• Experience in reviewing and analyzing log data from diverse network and security devices.

• Proficiency with information security tools for packet capture, network/OS fingerprinting, and communication.

• Practical knowledge of exploits, vulnerabilities, computer network intrusions, adversary tactics, exfiltration techniques, and general knowledge.

• Familiarity with enterprise SIEM products.

• Experience with ITSM, SOAR, or Cyber Case Management tools.

• Scripting skills in Python, Perl, Bash, and/or PowerShell are a plus.

• Understanding of database structures, queries, and regular expressions is advantageous.

• Preferred majors include Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
