Section 508 Compliance Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Analyze user stories, designs, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria to pinpoint Section 508 and WCAG standards.

• Create test scenarios focused on accessibility.

• Design, construct, and uphold both manual and automated Section 508 test cases for SAP Fiori, web applications, forms, reports, documents, workflows, and integrated JTMS features.

• Conduct accessibility testing to ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG success criteria.

• Assess keyboard-only navigation, focus order and visibility, labels and instructions, headings and structure, tables, forms, error handling, color contrast, non-text content, reflow, zoom, and screen-reader compatibility.

• Record accessibility defects with reference to requirements or WCAG criteria, including severity, reproduction steps, evidence, and remediation suggestions.

• Track findings until resolution and retest any corrected functionalities.

• Validate application performance using screen readers and other assistive technologies, such as JAWS and NVDA.

• Maintain test cases, test results, traceability, defect evidence, remediation status, and accessibility compliance reports.

• Engage in SAFe Agile sprint planning, refinement, demonstrations, retrospectives, and other ceremonies.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing Section 508 testing processes, reusable test assets, automated scanning, developer feedback, and overall accessibility quality practices within JTMS.

• Support USTRANSCOM's Joint Transportation Management System, an enterprise platform aimed at modernizing transportation, logistics, and financial operations through SAP S/4HANA integration.

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, UX teams, and other testers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret clearance (mandatory).

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

• A minimum of 5 years in software testing.

• Proven hands-on experience in Section 508/accessibility compliance testing for enterprise web applications or large-scale information systems.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and test against Section 508 accessibility requirements and WCAG success criteria.

• Capability to identify accessibility barriers, align findings with applicable criteria, propose remediation, and confirm corrective actions.

• Experience testing SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, or other extensive enterprise systems.

• Familiarity with screen readers and assistive technologies, including JAWS and NVDA.

• Ability to navigate using only the keyboard and operate functionalities without a mouse.

• Experience with both manual and automated accessibility testing.

• Up to 10% travel is required.

• Must comply with Continental US travel requirements.
