This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of scientific and technical projects by utilizing project management and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Convert project goals, customer needs, stakeholder feedback, and team decisions into actionable activities, milestones, schedules, and work items.
• Facilitate collaboration among scientific, technical, data, development, and cross-functional team members.
• Aid in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other recurring delivery processes.
• Keep project management systems updated, ensuring work items reflect current priorities, ownership, status, dependencies, and completion criteria.
• Monitor milestones, schedules, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, action items, and deliverables.
• Follow up on assigned tasks, identifying any delays, blocks, or ambiguities in the work.
• Organize meetings, prepare agendas and materials, document decisions and action items, and track follow-up activities.
• Maintain up-to-date project documentation and assist with status reports, customer updates, presentations, and project communications.
• Recognize risks or operational challenges and escalate issues to project or organizational leadership when necessary.
• Support activities related to testing, quality assurance, User Acceptance Testing, release coordination, and validation.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of project processes, templates, workflows, and delivery methods.
• Manage scientific and technical data throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with data onboarding, extraction, transformation, curation, quality review, and integration tasks.
• Promote reproducible and scalable data management workflows.
• Coordinate data-related activities among subject matter experts, analysts, developers, data specialists, and project staff.
• Assist with the organization of metadata, terminology standardization, controlled vocabularies, data standards, and data governance.
• Maintain documentation that ensures scientific data traceability, quality, and reproducibility.
• Help develop data dictionaries, process documentation, workflow diagrams, and scientific or technical artifacts.
• Support scientific quality control efforts and the resolution of data-related inquiries or discrepancies.
• Assist with accessing external scientific data sources and repositories.
• Facilitate interoperability among scientific databases, APIs, ontologies, metadata standards, and external systems.
• Prepare scientific reports, presentations, briefing materials, demonstrations, and project deliverables.
• Support engagement and coordination with scientific stakeholders.
• Address requests from team members and clients via email, MS Teams, or other communication platforms during core business hours.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific, technical, data, project management, or related field.
• Over 5 years of progressively responsible experience in supporting or coordinating scientific, technical, laboratory, research, data, or project operations.
• Proven track record of managing schedules, workflows, personnel coordination, recurring deliverables, or stakeholder reporting.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating projects, scientific operations, laboratory activities, research tasks, data workflows, technical operations, or similar interdisciplinary work.
• Experience in coordinating people, tasks, schedules, workflows, or recurring deliverables.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage detailed tasks across multiple priorities.
• Experience working with scientific, technical, or quantitative data.
• Ability to convert project goals and stakeholder requirements into clearly defined tasks and follow-up actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Ability to identify vague requirements and proactively seek clarification.
• Willingness to learn new tools, processes, technologies, and scientific areas.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to established project objectives, priorities, and processes.
• Available to respond to team member and client requests during core business hours.
• CAPM, PMP, Scrum, or related project management certification, or an interest in pursuing formal project management certification.
• Preferred: experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or other iterative project delivery methodologies.
• Preferred: familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, GitHub, or similar tools.
• Preferred: knowledge of Python, R, SQL, workflow management platforms, APIs, or other scientific data technologies.
• Preferred: experience in supporting software or data system testing, validation, or User Acceptance Testing.
