Scientific Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the transformation of outdated systems to contemporary architectures.

• Actively monitor and sustain aging infrastructure to guarantee high availability and optimal performance.

• Design and deploy scalable solutions utilizing serverless technologies and effective backend scripting.

• Ensure meticulous documentation through Pull Requests that capture architectural modifications, code updates, and completed tasks.

• Manage automated CI/CD deployment pipelines to maintain code quality and facilitate efficient delivery cycles.

• Assist the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information Data Stewardship Division customers.

• Oversee the environmental data infrastructure that supports the ingestion, long-term preservation, and distribution of environmental data products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Public Trust clearance is mandatory.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• Proficiency in Python and Bash for automation and data manipulation.

• Practical experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture.

• Strong grasp of React and TypeScript for managing front-end interfaces.

• Experience in writing and optimizing PL/SQL queries and managing relational databases.

• Advanced knowledge of Git and GitLab CI/CD workflows.

• Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs.

• A BS/BA degree in an IT/IS field or equivalent self-taught/bootcamp experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with data-intensive contracts or meteorological data formats is preferred.

• Experience in migrating or refactoring legacy infrastructure into cloud-native environments is preferred.

• Agile/Scrum experience is preferred.

• Knowledge of AWS security best practices is preferred.
