Scientific Lab Systems Support Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Provide operational assistance for the MODA LIMS (EM module) and laboratory systems based on workstations through the IT service management framework.

• Oversee system performance, address issues, facilitate incident resolution, and ensure the uninterrupted operation of laboratory activities.

• Comprehend the MODA data model and manage upgrades.

• Act as the main contact for business users concerning laboratory application support, enhancements, and problem resolution.

• Collaborate with Quality, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, vendors, and managed service providers to uphold reliable and secure laboratory platforms and applications.

• Create and maintain application support documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.

• Lead and assist with application lifecycle management tasks, including upgrades, refreshes, patching, migrations, and retirement planning.

• Oversee vendor activities and consultant resources that support laboratory platform projects.

• Manage system risks, technical debt, and compliance remediation efforts.

• Function as a subject matter expert for designated laboratory applications, including MODA LIMS GxP and other supported laboratory platforms.

• Offer technical and functional advice to business stakeholders regarding system capabilities, best practices, and compliance expectations.

• Collaborate with laboratory operations, manufacturing, quality, and research teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology optimization.

• Lead or assist with User Acceptance Testing, regression testing, and validation testing processes.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams to implement technology solutions that fulfill business, compliance, and operational needs.

• Contribute to long-term planning and continuous improvement efforts for laboratory platforms and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related discipline.

• Practical experience with MODA LIMS (EM module).

• Background in supporting other laboratory systems or enterprise applications in a regulated GxP setting.

• Experience with application lifecycle management and vendor-supported solutions.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication abilities.

• Capacity to work effectively across IT, Quality, and business teams.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting laboratory informatics applications and laboratory software platforms.

• Preferred: Familiarity with FDA, EMA, and GxP regulatory standards.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
