This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Drive business growth through key UK trade accounts, independent bookstores, specialized outlets, and unconventional retailers.
• Reconnect with former customers and uncover new prospects for both frontlist and backlist titles.
• Enhance direct-to-reader and direct-to-customer sales channels.
• Collaborate with the wider team to experiment with new strategies and establish sustainable revenue streams.
• Increase print and digital sales in specialized publishing sectors.
• Cultivate relationships with institutions, professional organizations, academics, practitioners, and other relevant customers.
• Identify potential opportunities in international markets, especially in the US.
• Strengthen existing distributor and partner relations while exploring new international market avenues.
• Collaborate closely with authors and team members on events, talks, promotional activities, and other sales-enhancing initiatives.
• Take responsibility for assigned priorities and keep colleagues updated on progress, opportunities, and challenges.
• Report directly to the Managing Director.
• Proven experience in book sales.
• Solid understanding of the UK book market.
• Capability to recognize and cultivate commercial opportunities.
• Confidence in nurturing existing customer relationships and approaching new accounts, customers, and potential partners.
• Proactive and self-driven attitude.
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and contribute practical ideas.
• Strong and effective communication skills.
• Capability to collaborate with colleagues, authors, customers, and distribution partners.
• Excellent organizational, financial, and digital skills.
• Ability to manage contacts, sales, invoicing, and follow-up activities.
• Desirable: experience in trade, direct-to-consumer, academic, professional, and/or international channels.
• Desirable: familiarity with specialized or non-fiction publishing markets.
• Desirable: experience in developing international distributor relationships or overseas sales.
• Desirable: experience working alongside authors to facilitate events, talks, promotional opportunities, and sales-driving activities.
