This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Execute tasks designated by the Safety Department, which includes aiding ongoing projects, analyzing and reviewing data, enforcing and maintaining safety protocols, and developing or enhancing systems and processes that support strategic safety initiatives.
• Report to a designated member of the Safety Department.
• Oversee the online safety management system.
• Initiate new projects and onboard personnel.
• Deliver training for new users, including contractors and Power personnel, on software applications.
• Create and distribute periodic compliance reports and follow up on unresolved issues.
• Examine safety documentation from Power and subcontractors, such as safety plans, JHAs, and certifications.
• Request updated plans from subcontractors and formulate plans for self-performed work.
• Develop project-specific startup guides for contractors and project teams.
• Solicit, receive, and review safety data sheets while flagging high-risk materials.
• Assist in the development, revision, and execution of safety training for employees and subcontractors.
• Help in addressing safety observations and carry out audits of mandatory contractor safety inspections.
• Communicate safety-related information and support project teams.
• Create and update programs and documentation.
• Assist in assessing the safety performance and selection of both the company and contractors.
• Collaborate with the risk department to correlate leading and lagging indicators.
• Offer feedback and recommendations based on the analysis of safety data.
• Provide weekly status updates and logs of active responsibilities through calls with the supervisor.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Safety and Health Degree from an accredited institution.
• Availability to commit 10-15 hours per week to assigned projects.
• A strong passion for safety, construction, and the prevention of injuries and accidents.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
• A self-motivated individual capable of scheduling and efficiently supporting teams.
• Ability to take responsibility and work effectively with teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and capable of capturing and organizing videos and photos.
